  • Sustainability Role in overall company's strategic plans
    Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. As well as seeds, all our books are made from 100% post consumer waste paper and envelopes from a variety of sources, such as schools and business to help save trees and reduce waste sent to landfills. Instead of the toxic glue or metal staples commonly used in binding, the books are hand stitched, using natural cotton and the inks we use are vegetable-based and Eco-UV based and fully biodegradable. We even go the extra mile to make sure the envelopes we use to deliver our books are entirely plastic free, they're called eco-lopes. this means that 100% of our our books are sustainable, something we're super proud of. When children get a Willsow product, we want them to immediately understand more about how we can all improve our environment.
    Pledges for the year
    We aim to be a zero waste company by the end of the first quarter of 2021. Currently the only waste we have are off cuts of paper when we make our books. We are working on creating a long term relationship with a local charity to ensure all these off cuts are collected and planted. This way, we can be confident that 100% of our books will be planted and will be giving back to the environment.

    Enviromental Impact
    We consider the environmental impact when creating our products
    100% of our books are biodegradable. We are looking to add a mini greenhouse to the range, we will ensure to only use recycled cardboard for the 'walls' and a biodegradable clear sheeting material for the windows which is derived from wood pulp.
