Beginning in 1969 with the iconic Butterfly Garden, Insect Lore has revolutionised the educational world with a wide variety of fascinating insect habitat kits and educational experiences. Five decades and over 200 million “Caterpillars-by-Mail” later, Insect Lore is a multination company with facilities in Cornwall, England and southern California, shipping caterpillars throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States! The original, and still the very best.
Our goal is to give children a friendly, hands-on introduction to insect metamorphosis, entomology, and life-cycle learning. While our focus still lies on our butterfly-related kits and educational material, we have expanded our product line to include multiple insect kits, bug catchers, keepers, viewers, toys, and other exciting items for insect lovers.
For 2026 we are unveiling a vibrant new look. The rebrand reflects our heritage while embracing the future. While the design evolves, Insect Lore’s mission remains the same: to spark curiosity, foster learning, and bring the magic of nature to children and families across the globe.
