Brakeburn began back in 2011, on the shores of Poole harbour, England. A clothing, accessories and footwear brand was born out of a passion for designing unique products, influenced by the most incredible surroundings of beautiful beaches, the rolling Purbeck hills and Dorset.
Everyone at Brakeburn shares an appetite for the outdoors, whether its cycling to the office, surfing at dawn, a weekend at one with the elements, or simply walking the dog on the beach. We’re also passionate about creating fantastic products and our commitment to quality in everything we do is underpinned by our continuous attention to detail, fit and choice of fabrics.
Our aim is to create a brand that represents our way of life.

Sustainability Role in overall company's strategic plansWe are Brakeburn. Our brand is inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Poole Harbour. We would like to keep it this way. Times are changing and so must we. As such, we have been working tirelessly to source fabrics that are kinder to the environment. We are proud to now be growing our ranges of organic and sustainable fabrics. With every season we are moving one step closer to being entirely sustainable.Sustainability initiativesWe produce two seasons a year, which we believe has less environmental impact than alternative brands and we pride ourselves on producing quality garments and are excited by the prospect of using even more sustainable fabrics. Our talented designers design all of our products in Poole in the UK, they are currently manufactured in China, India and Turkey. We work very closely with factories in these countries to ensure that we adhere to all laws and regulations whilst maintaining our social and ethical values and we manage this by regular onsite visits to the factories. We strive to maintain a good social ethical responsibility and where possible use fabrics that are sustainable to minimise the impact on the environment.Pledges for the yearAs a brand we are doing our best to make changes to be more sustainable and socially responsible, this is an on going process that we will achieve by making small and continuous changes.Sustainable ProductsWe are really pleased to have a number of garments that are made from Viscose as it is an eco-friendly fabric, made from renewable plants such as Bamboo, making it more environmentally friendly and sustainable. We would love to show you which of our products are made from this material.AT THE FAIRNEW TO THE FAIRPackagingOtherWe currently use plastics for some of products; however, we like to work directly with our factories to help minimise the amount of plastic packaging used for our products. We aspire to use plastic alternatives like cardboard for some of our products when we can. For example our reusable sustainable bamboo fire coffee cups.MaterialsWe have products made from sustainability sourced raw materialsWhere possible we strive to use sustainable and organic fabrics to produce more conscientious products to help protect our planet and our people these include fabrics such as cottons and viscose, which feature across both our Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter 2020 collections.Ethical ConsiderationsHere at Brakeburn we have a code of practice and ask our suppliers to sign and follow it, this outlines some of the points above. We ensure that regular visits to the factories are carried out throughout the year.Enviromental ImpactSome of the processes we use to manufacture products are water efficientAs a company we are aspiring to be more environmentally friendly, where possible we use manufacturing processes, which are more water efficient. We are pleased to use an environmentally friendly washing technique for a Denim Dress within our Women’s collection. And feature a new ‘green denim’ pair of jeans in our Men’s collection, which uses less effluent using less water.
