Sokona is a London-based accessories brand dedicated to celebrating African heritage through contemporary design. We create hand-woven handbags crafted in Northern Ghana by highly skilled women artisans using sustainably sourced raffia and responsibly tanned leather. Each piece is shaped by generations of weaving knowledge, elevated with modern finishes and cultural symbols that honour where it comes from.
Our collections feature signature woven silhouettes, hand-cut leather trims, and unique brass mask pendants inspired by West African identity and storytelling. We are committed to ethical production, fair compensation, and the preservation of traditional craft techniques that are at risk of disappearing. By partnering directly with artisan weaving communities, Sokona supports economic empowerment, skill visibility, and creative independence for every maker involved.
Launched in 2025, Sokona has quickly grown into a global conversation about design, culture, and belonging, with pieces now carried in different parts of the world. Each bag carries meaning — crafted slowly, designed to last.
