The Crafty Kit Company voted Best Sustainable Craft Company in the Craft Business Awards

The Crafty Kit Company has won four awards in the Craft Business Awards, including:

  • Best Sustainable Craft Company
  • Best Support & Service
  • Best Stitching Brand
  • Best Trade Website

"As a business we are always looking for ways to make our products, supply chains, and packaging as sustainable as possible," says founder Jo Lochhead. "We're very proud to make all of our craft kits here in Scotland, and have also taken steps to reduce the plastic content of our products, replacing plastic components with more sustainable alternatives wherever possible. We see sustainability as an ongoing journey for The Crafty Kit Company, and were absolutely thrilled to be voted Best Sustainable Craft Company again this year!"

Founded by Jo Lochhead in 2012, The Crafty Kit Company creates needle felting, sewing, and felt craft kits, all of which are produced from the company's premises in the old post office in East Linton. Its products are stocked by independent and national retailers such as John Lewis and Liberty, as well as increasing numbers of retailers in North America, Europe, and Australia.

The Crafty Kit Company firmly believes that everyone can be creative, and its kits are designed to empower crafters to improve their skills and create finished objects they will be proud of.

It has enjoyed a surge of interest in its products since 2020, with many turning to crafting for relaxation, stress relief, and to learn new skills.

For each kit that The Crafty Kit Company sells, it donates one ‘impact’ to charity initiatives worldwide through its partnership with B1G1 (Buy One Give One). Projects that the company has supported include providing e-learning facilities to children in India, vaccinating street dogs against rabies in Nepal, and providing clean drinking water to families in Cambodia.

The company also regularly donates to UK charities such as Headway, Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home, and The Scottish Seabird Centre.
